CFOSAT Science Team Meeting于2019年9月23—26在南京召开。CFOSAT卫星为中国与法国合作的首颗海洋卫星。

01	Background

CFOSAT has been succesfully launched on October 28th 2018.  Since then, the platform,  the SCAT and SWIM instruments and the ground segment are fully operational, and their performance are compliant with expectations.

Since December 2018 and until July 2019 an intensive phase of the calibration and validation (CAL-VAL) is carried out by the Space Agencies  (CNES, NSOAS) with the support expert groups in France and China.  The preliminary results of this CAL/VAL activity  indicate that the  geophysical data products are of very good quality. Therefore, NSOAS and CNES will be ready to  distribute a subset of these products to the Science Team members by mid-July 2019.

This first meeting of the CFOSAT Science is  organized at a key period in the life of the mission, at the end of the intensive CAL/VAL phase, before the decision is taken to open the data more widely, to the whole community.

Objective

The objective of this first science team meeting in hence to :

•  report on the CAL/VAL studies on SWIM and SCAT instruments and products.

• Exchange on scientific applications started or planned with CFOSAT observations.

• Ask representative of the science team to provide recommmandations on the future opening of data distribution and the default mode of operation of the instruments.

Topics

For this meeting, you are welcome to submit abstracts for oral or poster presentations dealing with:

• CAL-VAL studies of SWIM and SCAT.

• Processing methods of  SWIM or SCAT data in complement or as improvements to those presently used for provinding the standard products of the ground segment.

• Development of the synergetic use of CFOSAT products with data from various missions and sensors  or in-situ measurements.

• Planned or already started scientific studies based on the products proposed by the mission centers; this could concern in particular:

     the ocean wind and waves (open ocean, oastal studies)

     sea ice characterization

     continental ice shelf

     continental surfaces (soil, vegetation)

• Development of new tools with potential operational application: data assimilation in numerical models, operational model validation, tools for sea users (marine and offshore industry, ship routine, oil spill mitigation, …).

• Preparing future satellite missions based on the heritage of CFOSAT.
